Striving to help our children become
disciples of the Church
Christ Cathedral Academy has partnered with the Kids Heart Challenge to fundraise to help provide funds for research and treatment of individuals with special hearts for over 10 years! All of the money raised goes directly to the American Heart Association. The Kids Heart Challenge is a fun and exciting event where your student learns about their heart while helping others by raising money for the American Heart Association. It prepares our students for success through physical and emotional well-being. These students are building their emotional well-being by doing a good deed to raise money to fight heart disease. On the Kids heart challenge jump day students participate in a series of physical activities, which helps improve their healthy hearts and promote exercise and healthy habits. In 2020, students surpassed their fundraising goal of $7,000 to raise $8,308.62 for the American Heart Association. This is another one of the many community service projects that students are involved in at Christ Cathedral Academy.
Every November, Families are encouraged to create Blessing Bags for our local homeless veterans. Bags are annually presented to Volunteers of America. The Blessing Bags contain toiletries and nonperishable food items, as well as prayer cards made by our students.
During the Holiday season, we support the Thomas House Family Shelter, here in Garden Grove, by filling their pantry. The Thomas House offers assistance to families in need. We will start our food collection in mid November and end in early December. This part of our Faith in Action program directly helps children and families in our community. Find out more about Thomas House by checking out their website thomashouseshelter.org
Pasta-Thon supports Caterina’s Club, Chef Bruno, owner of the White House Restaurant, local philanthropy that feeds over 3,000 area children daily. Our school community collects pasta and sauce for Caterina’s Club. Every year our middle school students are able to volunteer in the Pasta-Thon located here on the Christ Cathedral Campus. See the story of this organization on their website caterinasclub.org
This year during Catholic Schools Week, our students collected cans of soup to help the Christ Cathedral Parish pantry stock up for its local recipients.
